Scroll to the bottom of the casino's homepage. A licensed casino usually states the operating company, its registration number, the regulator and the licence number. Donbet's footer, for example, read in August 2026: "donbet1.com is owned and operated by GTW B.V, a company registered in Curacao with Company Number 165433 … License Number: OGL/2024/250/0115".

The general terms usually repeat this near the top; Ladbrokes' UK terms name LC International Limited in clause 2.1. Note four things: the company name, the company number, the regulator and the licence number. You'll check each one in the next steps.

Step 2: UK Casinos – Search the Gambling Commission Register

For a casino that says it's licensed in Great Britain, go to the UK Gambling Commission website and open its public register. Search it by company name or account number. The entry shows:

  • the status of each licensed activity, such as "Active", and the date it started;
  • the licence types held;
  • trading names and domain names, which list the brands and websites on that licence;
  • any regulatory action taken against the company.

The domain list is the quickest way to see a UK casino's sister sites. On 7 October 2026 the entry for Ladbrokes' online business, LC International Limited (account 54743), listed 16 trading names and 15 domain names. If the casino's website isn't on the domain list of the company it names, ask why before you deposit.

Step 3: Curaçao Casinos – Check the Certificate

Casinos licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority show a seal, usually in the footer. Clicking it should open a certificate on the regulator's validator (cert.cga.cw), not on the casino's own site. The certificate names the domain, the operating company and its number, the licence number, the date it was granted and its status.

The regulator's certificate for mystake.com, checked on 7 October 2026, reads: "mystake.com is operated by GTW B.V. … licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority … under license number OGL/2024/250/0115 … its current status is Active". The one for donbet.com names the same company and licence, which is what makes the two casinos sisters.

The authority also publishes a register of licence holders. Read both: its edition of 2 October 2026 listed GTW B.V.'s licence as "Assessment in progress", while the certificates read "Active" on 7 October.

Step 4: Other Licences – Find the Regulator's Register

Other regulators keep their own public lists of licence holders. The Anjouan register, for example, gives each company's licence number, status, expiry date and domains: on 7 October 2026 one licence, held by Win Top Ltd, read "Valid" until 15 September 2027 and listed 29 domains. Check that the company and the website both appear.

The website matters as much as the company. The Donbet footer quoted in step 1 names donbet1.com, yet we found that domain on none of GTW B.V.'s certificates, which cover donbet.com, donbet.net and donbet.win (7 October 2026). A gap like that is worth asking about before you sign up.

Step 5: Follow the Company Upwards

The licence holder is often a subsidiary. To find the owner, look the company up in its country's company register (Companies House for UK companies) and check the parent group's annual report, which usually lists its main subsidiaries. Entain's 2025 annual report, for example, lists LC International Limited as wholly owned, and Ladbrokes' UK terms say the company "is part of the Entain Group".

Press reports can point you to a change of owner or operator, but treat them as leads until a register or the casino's own terms confirm them.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • No company named, or only a brand name, in the footer and terms.
  • A seal that isn't a link, or that opens an image or a page on the casino's own domain instead of the regulator's site.
  • Mirror domains missing from the licence or certificate.
  • One brand, several operators. MyStake's main site, mystake.com, names GTW B.V. The mystake.eu site names TG-One Limited of Belize and shows no licence, and we found no regulator certificate for mystake.cc (6–7 October 2026). Check which domain you're actually on.
  • Different terms for UK visitors that name no operator or licence.

The Shortcut

SisterSpy does these checks for every casino we cover and shows the evidence on each page. Start from our sister sites A–Z, or read how we link casinos for the full method.

A licence tells you who is responsible for a casino. It doesn't make gambling safe: set a deposit limit first, and only stake what you can afford to lose.
